WHY OUR PRACTICE DOES NOT PARTICIPATE WITH INSURANCE

Direct pay dermatology is a return to the traditional medical care model that puts the doctor-patient relationship first by eliminating the insurance networks. This puts the patients back in charge of their medical care.  Patients pay for dermatology services directly, rather than through a third-party payer such as an insurance company. In a direct pay model, patients typically pay a fee for each visit or procedure, rather than paying a copay or deductible.

Direct pay dermatology can offer a number of benefits to patients, including lower costs, more personalized care, and greater transparency in pricing. It can also allow dermatologists to spend more time with their patients, as they are not limited by insurance billing and coding requirements.

Dr. Cohen does not participate with any  payers.  A credit card must be on file and a non-refundable deposit is required.  All services must be paid in full at the time of service. Prices for all services are available and the patient can opt out of any treatment. 

Overall, direct pay dermatology is an alternative way of accessing dermatology care that may be more convenient and cost-effective for some patients.

Our fee schedule enables each patient to decide what treatment fits into their goals and budget. 

A few things to consider:

• Pathology and lab work are not performed in-house.  We have arranged a special direct pay rate with the pathology lab for any necessary labs or pathology ordered during your visit.

Many insurance plans will reimburse for out of network providers. 

• We are considered to be an “out-of-network” provider for PPOs. 
• Non-local HMOs may reimburse at a higher rate than PPOs. 
• Health Savings Accounts (HSA) and Flexible Savings Accounts (FLEX) may be used. 
• If you are concerned, please check with your insurance provider for their rules and regulations regarding reimbursement. 
• Please let us know during the intake process if a bill is required for your insurance plan.
